The MWSC travel program is a non-profit orginization dedicated to the advanced developement of youth soccer in the Monroe-Woodbury area. The travel program began in 1999 and is thriving today with 20 competitive teams. Our coaches are USSF (United States Soccer Federation) certified and trained by professionals in the field. Our coaches, assistants, board members and boosters are all dedicated volunteers which makes our club unique & special. We bring in all the top trainers from the "for profit" soccer clubs to provide the highest level of training available in the new york/new jersey area giving our coaches choices that are not available anywhere else. We encourage and value kids who demonstrate team loyalty, commitment & sportsmanship.
The Commitment
Commitment levels by both parents and players vary by age group. Teams will generally practice 2 days a week from August to November and March to June. One session is typically dedicated to a professional trainer. Winter indoor practices are usually January to March, and are less frequent.
There are 10 games per season of which 5 are in the Monroe-Woodbury vicinity and the other 5 are in Rockland and Bergen Counties. Away games are typically a 25 minute drive with a maximum of 45 minutes. Tournaments are completely at the discretion of the team but typically reserved for the holiday weekends. At the younger age groups tournaments are usually at venues that are less than an hour drive.
